Moyola Park 7 – Rafferty (4), McCann (2), Young
Moyola Park travelled to Paisley Park to take on Albert Foundry in the 2nd round of the Intermediate Cup on Saturday. The visitors were looking to build on a recent run of good results which saw them unbeaten in six games and scoring a remarkable 30 goals.
Moyola started off the better side, having an early chance to take the lead just 4 minutes into the game through Taggart, but his shot goes slightly high over the bar. With only 10 minutes into the game, McCann was brought down inside the box, and the referee awarded the penalty to the visitors where Rafferty stepped up and took the penalty well to put the away side 1-0 up early on. Albert Foundry started to come into the game a little and they had a good chance on 20 minutes but the shot was well saved by Moyola’s keeper McCauley. A few minutes later, Moyola were awarded a 2nd penalty in the game, when McCann was brought down in the box for a second time and Rafferty stepped up once again to take the penalty. He finished well and extended the visitors lead to 2-0. With half an hour gone in the first half, Moyola came at them again from a corner into the box and Rafferty was there to finish giving him his hattrick of the day. Ten minutes to go until half time, Moyola were awarded a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. Rafferty stepped up to take the free kick but the keeper got a hand on it and knocked it wide to deny Rafferty from getting a 4th goal. In the last 5 minutes of the first half, McCann bagged himself two goals, in which he took well to put the visitors 5-0 up going into the second half.
Moyola came out in the second half still looking to get more goals, and goal number 6 came just 5 minutes into the second half from a great run by Young, took a touch and put the ball in the net to make the score line 6-0. Ten minutes later, Rafferty took his total for the season to 18 when he bagged himself his 4th goal in the game from another good finish. Moyola were cruising along nicely. In the last 20 minutes of the game, Albert Foundry threw a few chances at Moyola but McCauley pulled off a few good saves to deny them from scoring.

Moyola Park have no game on Saturday 25th November 2017 and next in action when they welcome Ballywalter Rec to the Mill Meadow on Saturday 2nd December 2017 for a 4th round tie in the Tennent’s Irish Cup and game with have a 1.30pm kick off.
