Match Report

Bluefin Sport Premier Intermediate League

Armagh City 0

Moyola Park 1 – McIlhatton

Moyola Park travelled to Holm Park on a cold Saturday afternoon to take on Armagh City in the Bluesport Premier Intermediate League. Moyola were hoping to return to winning ways after a goalless draw in the Local Derby versus Tobermore on Tuesday night past. Moyola knew this wouldn’t be an easy fixture with a few key players missing due to injury.

The home side started off the stronger side in the opening 30 minutes of the game, testing Moyola Park’s Farniok on several occasions. Fifteen minutes into the game, Armagh had a shot from just outside the 18 yard box, but went slightly high over the crossbar. A few minutes later, they were then awarded a free kick about 25 yards, but it got no further than the hands of Moyola Park’s Farniok. Twenty minutes of the game gone, Moyola’s first chance came from a great ball delivered into the box by McCann but went slightly wide of the post. With half an hour gone in the first half and after a poor start from the visitors, McAllister played a great ball down the wing to Forrest who crossed it into the box and McIlhatton was there to knock it into the bottom corner of the net giving the visitors a boost in the game. Moyola went into half time with a 1 goal advantage, hoping to hold on to the lead in the second half.

In the second half, both teams came out looking for more goals in the game. It was pretty equal, both teams having shots at goal but nothing that both keepers couldn’t get a touch on. Moyola pushed out and held on to their 1-0 lead. A hard earned 3 points for the visitors.
