Moyola Park travelled to Bangor on a cold Tuesday night in the NIFL Premier Intermediate League hoping to return to winning ways after a 1-1 draw at home to Newry. The first 15 minutes was pretty even with both teams having chances to score. 17 minutes into the game, Moyola Park’s Tomas McCann who took a shot directly at the keeper who made an easy save to deny the shot. Bangor bounced back from this and 5 minutes later, Bangor had a chance to take the lead with Baxter taking a shot at Moyola Park’s Farniok and into the back of the net it went to give the home side the 1-0 advantage. This made the game more interesting for Moyola hoping that they would get an equaliser. A few minutes later, Moyola was awarded a free kick and Hassan stepped up to it but went straight to the keepers hands. 33 minutes into the first half, Moyola had a great chance to find an equaliser with a free kick from Hassan into the box, the ball then bounces out to McIlhatton who crosses it in to Taggart who heads it over the cross bar. With 10 minutes remaining to half time, Moyola had a corner which was taken by Beggs into the box and McIlhatton was there to header it into the net to get the visitors back in it.
Moyola’s first chance of the second half resulted in them taking the lead when they were awarded a free kick, Hassan again stepped up to take which bounced off the bar, however Taggart was there on the rebound to score to give the visitors the 2-1 lead. Moyola continued to push at Bangor when 20 minutes into the second half, Tomas McCann had a shot but Bangor’s keeper does well to deny him from scoring. A few minutes later, Bangor was awarded a free kick on the edge of the 18 yard box but the shot went well wide to keep the score line 2-1. With 18 minutes remaining, McCann put a great ball through for Rafferty who sent it wide. Straight after this, Bangor came back in the game when the equalised with a shot which beat Moyola Park’s Farniok to his right hand post. Both teams were out in the last 10 minutes to try and find a winner. McAllister then had a great shot which just went slightly wide. Just about the last kick of the game, Bangor was awarded a corner which was put in the box and headed into the net to give the home side the 3-2 win and all 3 points.
