Moyola Park welcomed Banbridge to the Mill Meadow on Tuesday night for the NIFL Premier Intermediate League game in what was sure to be a tough game for both sides who were striving to get the 3 points. 3 minutes into the game, the home side had the first opportunity of the game with a free kick from Hassan which was cleared and after an error by the keeper; Beggs had a powerful shot just high and over. A few minutes later, a free kick from Banbridge into the box but headed wide by Anderson. Both sides had chances at goal but both keepers done well to deny goal scoring opportunities. 26 minutes into the first half, Moyola Park’s McAuley volleys the ball from far out but his shot just goes over the bar. Moyola Park looked closer to scoring with a cross into the box from Harris but just missed by Rafferty. 5 minutes to go until half time, Moyola were awarded a free kick which was took by McAllister into the box where Paul was there with a great effort saved by the keeper.
A few minutes into the second half, Moyola Park’s Taggart had a shot at close range but went straight at the keeper. Banbridge then was awarded a free kick which was taken by Moffet but Farniok made a great save to deny the opposition from opening the score line. 10 minutes into the second half, the visitors took the lead with a shot from Downey which was saved by Farniok but the ball bounced out to his feet and a great finish from close range to give the visitors the lead at the Mill Meadow. 2 minutes after Banbridge took the lead, Moyola were on the break with Harris who passed long and wide to Beggs who made a great win and passed the ball into the box where Rafferty is there to put the ball in the net to get the home side back in the game. 8 minutes after Moyola equalised, Moyola went 2-1 up when Rafferty received the ball in the box who made a great turn and smashed it into the net to put the home side in front. 5 minutes later, Moyola extended their lead with a corner taken by Hassan into the box which went towards the keeper who was challenged in the air by Rafferty which resulted in Banbridge keeper punching the ball into his own net to make the score line 3-1 to the home team. Banbridge started to come into the game a few chances which went over the bar. With 10 minutes of the game remaining, counter attack by Hassan into the Banbridge half of the pitch who passed to Taggart who fires home to make the score line 4-1. Banbridge then went down to 10 men with Acheson shown a second yellow. The game finished ended 4-1 to the home team.
