Moyola Park 2008’s

Moyola Park 2008’s (Sponsored by Henry Brothers Magherafelt) were competing in the Magherafelt Sky Blues tournament. The boys entertained Bertie Peacocks in the first match and were unlucky to taste defeat by the only goal of the game. Things looked better in the 2nd game as we played the tournaments hosts, Speirs opened the scoring early on with a scissor kick only for the sky blues to score a late equaliser and honours even at the 2nd. With a win in our final game to secure 2nd spot in the table the boys had their best game of the day as they beat Annagh with a goal from the impressive McErlean. The semi-final saw the Castledawson boys progression halted as they put up a battling performance against the eventual winners Ballymoney. All in all a good day out for the boys with some good football being played and progressing with every match. Team: Cole, Scott, Rueben, Curtis, Ashton, Alex Sm, Alex Sp (1), Eoghan (1), Odhran, Daithi.

Moyola Park 2007’s

Moyola Park 2007’s (U11’s) (Sponsored by Henry Brothers Magherafelt) played Ballymoney United Youth in the Harry Gregg Foundation SSGC at the University of Ulster in Coleraine. On a cold and wet day, both teams deserve credit for a tough first half with Ballymoney having a few shots on target but nothing to panic the Moyola keeper John. With the introduction of Niall in the second half, Moyola looked more dangerous with every attack, whilst holding firm at the back. Ruben was rewarded with the opening goal for all his hard work, finishing well and low into the bottom corner. John then came to the rescue with a couple of super saves. Niall then made it 2-0 with a cool finish. Shortly after John saved a shot from Ballymoney and he immediately found Luke’s run with a great pass, who finished on the half volley to make the final score 3-0. Goals scored by Ruben, Luke and Niall. The player deserving Man of the match was Ruben, who worked extremely hard to score and create for his team today. Well done to everyone in the team who played their part today.
