Moyola Park 2007’s

Moyola Park 2007’s (Sponsored by Henry Brothers Magherafelt) travelled to the University of Ulster in Coleraine on Saturday morning to play Portrush in the Harry Gregg Foundation small sided games centre. It was a credit to both teams as they had to play on a wet muddy pitch. Difficult conditions meant Moyola found it difficult to pass the ball around in the early stages. It was Portrush who came out stronger to begin with. Moyola stayed resolute and defended strongly. Moyola were in the ascendancy and scored first through Joel D from a corner. More chances were created by Moyola but they couldn’t get the break with Niall hitting the post. Eventually a shot from Luke squirmed in through the keeper. In the 2nd half Moyola started strong trying to pass the ball and created more and more chances. Portrush still remained a threat going forward but Moyola were able to defend well and keep chances to a minimum. Luke once again produced a good run and finished well making it 3-0. Moyola threatened more and a strong run and cross from the left met Luke who controlled and finished superbly again. 4-0 the final score. Man of the match goes to the defence and in particular with a bit of responsibility given, it was Luca who controlled his left/right backs whilst making tackles and setting up attacks. Luca was a true leader today. Well done to everyone today who played in difficult conditions and goal scorers were Joel D and Luke (3).

They returned to action after a long winter break and it was back to winning ways for the boys who played two games winning both without conceding. Credit to the boys who after a long layoff and with the winter conditions in full force at Coleraine University played some really eye catching football, continually playing out from the back and working hard as a team to create opportunitites for each other. Team: Oliver, Dathi, Reuben, Alex (1), Ashton, Curtis (1), Deon, Ordhan (2).

Moyola Park U14’s

In what was probably the boys best performance to date in the league goals on the day where scored by Jordan and Richard. A real confidence booster for the boys and they look forward to next week’s fixture and hopefully 3 more points. A well done also to the three 2006 boys who made the trip with the squad for the first time.
