Moyola travelled to the Radia Stadium in Ballymoney on Saturday to take on Glebe Rangers in their final game of the season.

Moyola opened the scoring after 15 seconds when four passes from kick off saw Healy cross for Dowie to fire the ball in off the cross bar for his 31st goal of the season.  Three minutes later a corner from Gray was fired wide by Dowie.  With seven minutes on the clock a ball into Moyola penalty area from the right was knocked in by Kennoway for 1-1.  A minute later McDowell saw his effort saved my Farniok.  In the 13th minute a shot by Black was saved by McKendry.  Midway through the first half Healy put the visitors back in front when he fired past McKendry from just inside the box.  With five minutes left in the first half Farniok saved a shot from McDowell.  With the first half coming to a close, a foul by Kelly resulted in a penalty of which McDowell fired past Farniok for 2-2.

Moyola made a change for the second half with Lucas replacing Black.  The first minute of the second half saw Gallagher wide for the visitors.  In the 51st minute McDowell beat McQuillan and fired a ball across goal which just eluded a team mate.  With 56 minutes on the clock Sheapard saw his goal bound header tipped over by Farniok.  Glebe should have gone in front in the 62nd minute, however a goal bound shot from McDowell was blocked by Stewart.  Two minutes later McQuillan scored his first goal of the season following a cross from the right.  In the 69th minute Gray saw an effort saved by McKendry and a minute later the visitors replaced Barrow with Taggart.  With eleven minutes left the home side replaced Marks who was playing his last game with Kirlew.  With 5 minutes left a great ball from McDowell found Kennoway inside the box and he slotted the ball past Farniok to make the score 3-3.  A minute later Magill replaced Dobbin for Glebe and with two minutes remaining Bradley replaced Healy for the visitors.  The last chance of the game was in the last minute when a cross by Bradley was hit over by Gallagher.

This was a hard game for both teams in very difficult conditions and saw Chris Dowie finish on 31 goals for the visitors and Moyola finish in 6th place on 48 points.

Moyola Park welcomed league leaders Lurgan Celtic to the Mill Meadow on Saturday looking to build on their midweek 6-0 win over Wakehurst.

The first chance in the game was in the second minute when C Lavery fired a shot straight at Farniok in the home goal.  In the seventh minute a corner from Gray was headed over by Waddell and a minute later at the other end a shot by Malone was well saved by Farniok.  With eighteen minutes on the clock C Lavery fired wide for the visitors following a pass from Barton.  The home side opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when good work down the left between Stewart and Gray saw the later cross for Healy to score his first goal via a deflection. Two minutes later a cross from N Lavery saw the well placed Malone head wide.  In the 28th minute Malone shot from the edge of the box only to see the impressive Farniok save his effort.  With 31 minutes on the clock a move that involved Healy, McAllister and Dowie found Gray however he pulled his shot wide.  With ten minutes left in the first half a cross from Waddell found Black who shot wide and in the 40th minute a punch straight up by Farniok was headed off the bar by Ryan.  With four minutes left Gallagher ran from the half way line and passed to Healy in the box who saw his shot saved by McCorry.  With the first half coming to a close McQuillan had a shot blocked and the ball broke to McAllister who saw his shot just go over the bar.

The start of the second half had very little action and Moyola made a change in the 53rd minute with Lucas replacing Waddell.  A minute later Malone found himself right in front of goal and somehow tripped over the ball and the chance was gone.  In the 55th minute a run by C Lavery into the Moyola penalty area was cleared by McQuillan.  The visitors thought they had equalised a minute later only to see Stewart clear the ball off the line.  With less than half an hour left a shot from N Lavery was blocked by McAllister. In the 69th minute a pass from Barton found Ryan and again Farniok made another great save.  Four minutes later Haire had his effort saved by Farniok and in the 75th minute Farniok again foiled the visitors when he saved from Ryan.  Lurgan Celtic equalised in the 76th minute when a ball into the box found C Lavery who turned and fired a shot past Farniok.  In the 79th minute a free kick from Black was tipped over by McCorry and with 2 minutes left a cross into the Moyola penalty by Ryan was missed by everyone and went out for a throw in.  With the game nearly over Haire thought he had won the game for the league leaders only to see Farniok make a fantastic save much to the dismay of the visiting fans.

This was a battling performance from the home side who had Farniok to thank as he has made at least 5 great saves to make the final score 1-1.

As a learning experience for players and coaches alike, we were presented with the opportunity to organise a football development tour to Barcelona, Spain.  The team that will be travelling to Spain, will be the under 13s age group.  This was at first a fantastic idea and one that got a great reaction from the coaches as well as the support of the parents involved, but soon the size of the task began to take hold as we had wanted to make this a trip to remember for ALL involved.  The mammoth size of our goal was only achievable by getting everyone connected with the club and community to show their support both physically and financially through various fundraising events and ideas.  We are glad to say that the fundraising has been hugely successful and the Coaches who manage the Under 13’s have been left overwhelmed by the support and kind gestures of all parents, many individuals and businesses not only locally but further afield as well.  We would like to thank Henry Brothers for their kind support in helping with the funding of the tracksuits that we have provided for the boys.  We would also like to thank all the t-shirt sponsors who provided 5 t-shirts EACH for the boys, one for each day away.

These lads will not only enjoy playing football in another country but will learn so much from the experience, as a result of European dominance in football at this level.  The entire trip will be based on an itinerary of matches and/or training sessions with local teams and Pro-licensed Spanish coaches from Catalonia, the home of FC Barcelona.  The players will be staying in the Cambrils Park Resort, Salou and play their football in the fantastic facility that is the Futbol Salou Sports Complex.  The tour to Barcelona will take place on 6^th April 2015 for 5 days.   As an added extra the boys will also be taken to the Camp Nou, to watch some of the world’s best player’s play for FC Barcelona.

We cannot stress enough how much of an impact this Development Tour will have on these boys lives, not only presently but for the rest of their lives.
