Match Report

Moyola welcomed Championship 1 side Donegal Celtic to the Mill Meadow for this 1st Round JBE League Cup tie.  Carrying a few Knocks from Saturday’s away win at Dundela manager Mervyn Pattison was forced into making a change with Waddell coming in for the injured Harris.

Moyola started the game brightly and were on the front foot from the off, with early chances falling to Magill, Gray and Dowie.  The deadlock was finally broken after 25mins when the very impressive Adam Gray dazzled past two DC defenders and fired an unstoppable shot from 20 yards into the bottom right hand corner.  Moyola at this stage were controlling the midfield with Mcillhatton and Gray pulling the strings.  Donegal Celtic’s best chance came from a corner kick which fell to their number 9 who saw his effort cleared of the line by McAllister.

The second half saw a much tighter affair with chances few and far between. Magill fired one just wide of the far post and Donegal Celtic had a goal disallowed for offside.  The game was put to bed in the 82nd minute when the ball fell to Chris Dowie 25 yards from goal and he made no mistake when he fired in into the bottom corner!

This was a good performance from the home side against a Championship 1 side and Moyola Park’s next game is on Saturday when they travel to Seaview to play Newington in a league game.

Moyola Park FC would like to thank Valerie Martin for sponsoring the match ball.
