The ladies entertained Limavady Ladies in the Park on Thursday 20th August 2009 in both teams last game of the season. Limavady had to win this game to finish above Banbridge and be crowned league champions, Moyola had to win the match 2-0 to finish second behind Banbridge and leave Limavady finishing third.

Moyola had most of the play in the first half and missed several chances before L McErlean scored her 20th goal of the season to leave the score 1-0 at half time. Limavaday came out a lot stronger in the second half and got a well deserved equaliser with a great shot from the edge of the box past the home keeper. Limavady pushed in vain for a winner that would have clinched the league and disappointed the watching Banbridge contingent, but the Moyola defence was working hard and kept the score 1-1 which meant the Division 2 trophy was heading to Co Down and not Co Londonderry.

After the game, Elaine Junk from the NI Women’s FA handed over medals to runners up Limavady Ladies.
