Coagh United  1 Moyola Park 3

Moyola Park travelled to Hagan Park for the local derby against Coagh United with both sides looking to get the 3 points on a soft and soggy pitch.

The soggy pitch made it difficult for both sides to get the ball down and play passing football. Half chances fell to both sides in the first half but neither goalkeeper was rarely troubled. There were some feisty tackles from both sides, but neither side were able to gain control of the first half and both sides went in at the interval tied at  0-0.

Moyola came out for the second half looking sharper and the game started off at a higher tempo. On the 47th minute the ball fell to Dowie in the box and the striker slotted home to give Moyola the lead. Then 3 minutes later Taggart doubled the lead for Moyola. Harris sent the ball into the box from a free kick andthe ball was met by the head of Taggart who sent the ball beyond Hassan in the Coagh United goals. Coagh United began to press and a terrific 25 yard volley from Canning produced a great save from Maybin who diverted the ball behind for a Coagh United corner kick. The resulting corner was met by the head by Quigg who headed the ball beyond Maybin in the Moyola goals to make the score line 2-1. Taggart had a wonderful chance on 84 minutes to nail the 3 points but he scuffed his shot wide after a great knock down from McIlhattan. Moyola finally put the game beyond Coagh United when Dowie got his second and Moyola`s third when he met Gray`s low cross and put the ball in the back of the net. The game finished Coagh United 1  Moyola Park 3.

All connected with Moyola Park FC would like to pass on our condolences to our former coach and Youth Chairman Barry Devlin on the death of his father Barney. Barney was President of the club and also a former player.
