Moyola Park Football Club are a local Club with a rich history, not only at senior level but more recently in grass roots football, who as part of the community in Castledawson, have grown as one of the major teams in local football, synonymous with first class coaching in a superb facility and a great team spirit. Moyola Park Youth are a community club with a deep rooted tradition of supporting all youth football at various age groups and providing a platform for promoting a cross community arena for young players to develop and participate in sports, solely supported and run by volunteers of varied skills and experience, and without the help and support of communities and businesses in and around the club, Moyola would not be the success that it has been and continues to be.
As a learning experience for players and coaches alike, we were presented with the opportunity to organise a football development tour to Barcelona, Spain. The team that will be travelling to Spain, will be the under 13s age group. This was at first a fantastic idea and one that got a great reaction from the coaches as well as the support of the parents involved, but soon the size of the task began to take hold as we had wanted to make this a trip to remember for ALL involved. The mammoth size of our goal was only achievable by getting everyone connected with the club and community to show their support both physically and financially through various fundraising events and ideas. We are glad to say that the fundraising has been hugely successful and the Coaches who manage the Under 13’s have been left overwhelmed by the support and kind gestures of all parents, many individuals and businesses not only locally but further afield as well. We would like to thank Henry Brothers for their kind support in helping with the funding of the tracksuits that we have provided for the boys. We would also like to thank all the t-shirt sponsors who provided 5 t-shirts EACH for the boys, one for each day away.
These lads will not only enjoy playing football in another country but will learn so much from the experience, as a result of European dominance in football at this level. The entire trip will be based on an itinerary of matches and/or training sessions with local teams and Pro-licensed Spanish coaches from Catalonia, the home of FC Barcelona. The players will be staying in the Cambrils Park Resort, Salou and play their football in the fantastic facility that is the Futbol Salou Sports Complex. The tour to Barcelona will take place on 6th April 2015 for 5 days. As an added extra the boys will also be taken to the Camp Nou, to watch some of the world’s best player’s play for FC Barcelona.
We cannot stress enough how much of an impact this Development Tour will have on these boys lives, not only presently but for the rest of their lives.
